Mama and Papa celebrate 70 years together!

This past weekend my Mama and Papa celebrated 70 years together! What an amazing milestone! They are adorable together. Here are some pictures from our weekend. Palmer and Harrison enjoyed meeting some of their cousins! There were also three sets of multiples we met on our trip! One set of twin girls a week older than P&H were at the Texas Burger in Madisonville. Another set of twin girls (older) were in the nursery at church... and there was a set of BBG triplets in the nursery at church as well! How crazy. It was also great to see Uncle Jay for the first time since Christmas! He is too funny. The boys absolutely adore him. He makes them laugh out loud every time they see him. He also taught Harrison how to stick out his tongue... thanks Uncle Jay. :) Carter surprised us and flew in for the party... he was working in Houston and wasn't going to make it. What a sneaky Daddy he is! I was SOOOOO glad to see him because I didn't have to drive home by myself with the babies. We also got to eat at El Fenix... Mimi's favorite spot; shopped at the outlet mall in Allen, ate at Mama and Papa's favorite place... the Steak House, and had frozen custard at Wild about Harry's! It was a great weekend. I only hope and pray we can all make it 70 years together. What a blessing.

Crazy questions I'm wondering about as I give the TAKS test

On these awfully boring mornings when I am giving the TAKS test, my mind tends to wander. Today it wandered into wondering what my boys will grow up to be. I wasn't allowed to be on the computer, so I wrote this down and am transcribing it now.

What will my boys grow up to be? As I look around this room of 9th graders -- I wonder what my boys will look like; what they will act like; who their friends will be? What kinds of grades will they get? Will they hate math like I did, or love it like their Daddy? What kinds of girls will they date? (yikes) Marry? (YIKES) Will they share my love for science? Will they be in their Daddy's band? What instruments will they play? How will people think of them? (Oh, those Biggers twins are so sweet! OR Ugh... I have the Biggers twins in class this year)? What crazy stories will I have to tell after they are "grown?" How will I remember their childhood? Fondly, or Thank God it's over!? Will they have siblings? Cousins other than Isaac and Luke? How much I would love for them to have a little sister. :) Will they play sports? Where will they go to college? Why on Earth am I asking these questions today?

Things I never knew I'd miss after becoming a parent...

The boys turned 8 months old this past weekend. I can hardly believe how fast the time has flown by. Harrison also started to crawl on his 8 month birthday, which is a HUGE milestone... :) Having mobile twins is a LOT different than having twins who can lay still! Palmer is not very far behind. He gets up on all fours and moves his knees, but hasn't figured out how to move his hands yet. I'm not encouraging him yet, because it is enough work to chase his brother! Palmer does roll everywhere, though. He sometimes can move faster than Harrison! We also took down their crib mobile yesterday. It was a little bit of a sad moment... they are growing up too fast for me. We left the mirror part on the crib for now, but I have this vision of it being a stepping stone for pulling up on the crib.

On my commute to school this morning, I started thinking about things I never knew I'd miss after I became a parent... so here is a list of a few of the things I came up with. Feel free to add your own!

  • taking a bubble bath without having to share the tub with a rubber duckie or two
  • having to check your shirt for spit up every time you go somewhere
  • "collecting" things in your purse (how many pacifiers do two kids need anyway?)
  • thinking of food in terms of its taste, not its texture
  • having a night out with my husband without half of our house in tow...
  • looking in the rear view mirror and not glancing at car seats
  • washing dishes that don't involve using that silly bottle brush
  • doing laundry once a week instead of every single day
  • not caring if my floors weren't clean enough to eat off of...
  • reading books that don't have cardboard pages
I'm sure I could think of a million more... but the bell just rang for school to start. Happy Tuesday!

Which sports car are you?

I'm a Mazda Miata!

You like to soak up the sun, but your tastes are down to earth. Everyone thinks you're cute. Life is a winding road, and you like to take the curves in stride. Let other people compete in the rat race - you're just here to enjoy the ride.

The Traveling Vinyard

OK, all of you... Carter and I have found the most AWESOME hobby/job in the WORLD!

We are new consultants for The Traveling Vinyard! Yes, it is a home party business, but this one is to host Wine Tastings! How Much Fun! We hosted our own wine tasting on Sunday and it was so much fun we signed up to be consultants ourselves!

We have already booked several tastings... so if you are intersted let us know! We'll add you to our list. We are super excited about this. We've always been wine enthusiasts, and this is right up our alley. You can check our new company out on the web at www.thetravelingvinyard.com to see what it is about.

More on this later!

Just like a commercial...

Carter and I took the boys this past Saturday to the Houston Children's Festival downtown. It was SO much fun! We got to meet Rachel and Hopkins of Baby Signing Time. :) I'm waiting for a picture to upload to show you all.

On the way there, we got into an argument about directions. We laughed after it was all over about our day... here is what we came up with

Gas to and from downtown Houston... $30.00
Admission tickets to Children's Festival (with coupon!)... $12.00
Tickets for food/drinks...$20.00
Lost money out of pocket in shuffle...$10.00
Arguing in the car for 30 minutes about directions... FREE, but stressful :)
Seeing Rachel and Hopkins of Baby Signing Time and getting to walk together through the park as a FAMILY... PRICELESS

Overall, it was a great day! We even got to stop by Aunt Pat and Uncle Gary's office which was a block away from the festival. We were all really tired when we got home.
